Troops Foil Abduction Attempt in Sokoto State

On Monday, troops engaged in a fierce gun battle with heavily armed bandits attempting to abduct residents in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State. The military's rapid response led to the retreat of the assailants, resulting in the neutralization of several bandits and the recovery of two motorcycles and assorted ammunition.

Col. Ahm Usman, the special adviser to the governor on security matters, confirmed that the state government is closely monitoring developments and is committed to supporting security agencies to prevent destabilization by criminal elements. Governor Ahm Aliyu's administration is prioritizing security by providing logistical and financial support to enhance the capabilities of security personnel.

The government is also working to counter the threats posed by Bello Turji, a notorious bandit leader, who has been linked to numerous attacks and kidnappings in the region. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and support security efforts.
