Trump Administration Targets Citizenship Fraud with Reviews

The Trump administration has ordered the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) to identify 100 to 200 potential denaturalization cases each month, as reported by NBC News.

This directive, which is part of a broader effort to combat citizenship fraud, involves reallocating personnel and deploying specialists nationwide to review previously approved naturalization cases. USCIS spokesperson Matthew Tragess stated that the agency will maintain a zero-tolerance policy toward fraud in the naturalization process and will pursue denaturalization proceedings against individuals who misrepresent themselves.

The Department of Justice has reportedly instructed its attorneys to prioritize denaturalization cases, especially those involving national security threats, war crimes, and fraud related to Medicaid and Medicare. This initiative aligns with Trump's ongoing focus on tightening U.S. citizenship policies, including his previous attempts to end birthright citizenship for children born in the U.S. to foreign nationals.
