Trump Orders Flags at Half-Staff for Dolly Parton

President Donald Trump ordered American flags across the United States to fly at half-staff for one week in honor of Dolly Parton, who passed away on August 25 at the age of 80 in Nashville, Tennessee. Trump described Parton as “one of the greatest Country Music Singers of all time,” noting her death as “a loss for millions of people around the world.” Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, announced her death on social media, stating she had “lived in the light” and was now at peace.

Parton was admitted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center on August 21 due to kidney and autoimmune issues. Tributes from the entertainment industry included heartfelt messages from Reba McEntire, Kacey Musgraves, and Jane Fonda, among others.

Public figures like Jeff Bezos and Tim Cook praised her life of love and philanthropy. Parton’s family plans a small, private funeral, encouraging fans to support her literacy initiative, the Imagination Library.

She will be buried beside her husband, Carl Dean, at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
