Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 Evacuated in Kathmandu

A Turkish Airlines Airbus A330 was evacuated at Kathmandu's airport following a smoke scare linked to a hydraulic pipe malfunction. The incident occurred when smoke was detected emanating from the right rear tire of the aircraft.

The fire was quickly extinguished, and the plane was moved to the taxiway for the safety of the passengers. A total of 277 passengers and 11 crew members were safely evacuated through emergency exits, with no injuries reported.

Yahya Ustun, a senior vice president of communications at Turkish Airlines, stated that preliminary findings suggest the smoke was caused by the hydraulic pipe issue. Technical inspections are currently underway, and the airline is arranging additional flights to transport affected passengers.
