Attack at Plateau mining site leaves two feared dead

Two persons are feared killed after suspected gunmen opened fire at a mining site around Kuru Jenta, near the boundary between Kuru Jenta in Jos South Local Government Area and Heipang in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State. The incident occurred at approximately 11:30 pm on Friday while the victims were present at the mining site.
Weng Bulus, a community member, reported that the victims were from Heipang District and were shot during the incident. He condemned the attack and advised residents against engaging in mining activities at night, especially during the curfew imposed by the state government.
Rwang Tengwong, spokesman for the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, also condemned the attack and called for an investigation by security agencies to identify and bring the perpetrators to justice. Efforts to reach Alabo Alfred, the spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, for confirmation were unsuccessful as his phone was switched off.
