Two Security Operatives Killed in Plateau Attack

On Sunday afternoon, suspected armed attackers stormed Tanjol and Tarai communities in Plateau State, resulting in a violent encounter with security personnel. The attack began around 2:30 p.m., prompting a response from local security operatives.

However, they faced fierce resistance, leading to a gun battle that lasted several minutes. Reports indicate that at least two security operatives were killed during this confrontation, and their firearms were taken by the attackers.

Additionally, some residents sustained injuries, and one civilian was reported missing. Mr. Jerry Chollom, a local resident, confirmed the incident, expressing concerns over the heightened fear and tension among the community, particularly in areas surrounding Jol.

He urged security agencies to enhance their protective measures for vulnerable communities. Efforts to obtain comments from security agencies, including Captain Polycap Oteh of Operation Enduring Peace, were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
