Fire Outbreaks Hit Access Bank and Residential Building in Kano

On August 11, 2026, two fire outbreaks were reported in Kano State, affecting an Access Bank branch in Dawakin Tofa and a residential building in Kumbotso. The Kano State Fire Service, through its Public Relations Officer Saminu Yusif Abdullahi, stated that the first incident occurred at approximately 1:17 pm on Monday at Bank, Dawanau, after a distress call from a man named Michael.

Firefighters from the Dawanau Fire Station found a one-storey bank building measuring about 100 by 80 feet on fire, with a Mikano generator completely engulfed and an electrical transformer slightly affected. The second incident took place at around 6:19 pm at Sabuwar Gandu, Sheka Gari, following a call from Ahmad Mainama.

Firefighters from the Sharada Industrial Area Fire Station arrived to find a ground-floor residential building measuring about 40 by 30 feet ablaze, affecting two bedrooms, a parlour, and a kitchen. Both fires were contained, and the causes are under investigation.

Alhaji Sani Anas, Director of the Kano State Fire Service, urged residents to adopt preventive measures against fire outbreaks.
