Two Kidnappers Sentenced to Death in Ekiti Court Ruling

On a recent ruling, the Ekiti State High Court sentenced Ibrahim Abubakar and Abdullahi Abubakar to death by hanging for their involvement in the kidnapping of Omoboad Adesina, a female staff member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The court's judgment, delivered by Justice Lekan Ogunmoy, was based on the successful prosecution by the Department of State Services (DSS), which conducted an extensive investigation leading to the conviction.

The case, referenced as suit no 124C 2022, stemmed from the kidnapping incident that occurred on April 22, 2022. The court discharged a third defendant, Usman Abubakar, due to insufficient evidence linking him to the crime.

Justice Ogunmoy commended the DSS for their diligent work, particularly in utilizing call data records as crucial evidence. This judgment represents a significant legal victory for the DSS in their ongoing efforts to combat kidnapping and violent crime across Nigeria.
