Niger State Officials Held for Five Months by Kidnappers

Alhaji Ahm Moham, a member of the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission, and Alhaji Alhassan Bawa Niworo, chairman of the Niger State Ward Development Project, have been held captive by kidnappers since September 29, 2025. Initially, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N30 million, which the families paid, but the victims were not released.

Subsequently, the kidnappers increased their demand to N40 million, which was also paid, yet the officials remained in captivity. The kidnappers are now threatening to kill the duo unless a further N150 million is paid.

Alhaji Ayuba Abubakar, another victim, was also mentioned, as the bandits collected a second ransom before he was found dead. Hajiya Kulu Moham Niworo, the younger sister of Alhaji Niworo, expressed concern over the dire situation, stating that family members have taken loans and sold property to raise the N30 million ransom, but the kidnappers continue to threaten them.
