UAE Sets Conditions for Work Permit Cancellations

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) in the UAE has outlined three specific employer-side failures that can lead to the cancellation or refusal of work permits. These include the submission of incorrect documents by an establishment, the establishment being fictitious or ceasing its registered activities, and failure to comply with the Wages Protection System or other labor market regulations.

Additionally, MoHRE has established prerequisites for granting work permits, which include having a valid trade license free of violations, ensuring the occupation listed corresponds with the business activity, and that only authorized individuals may submit applications. Workers must also meet certain conditions, such as being at least 18 years old, with exceptions for juvenile work permits and student training.

The ministry emphasizes that both employer compliance and worker eligibility are assessed together, meaning deficiencies on either side can prevent a work permit from being issued.
