UAE Offers Temporary Re-Entry for Expired Visa Holders

The UAE government has announced a temporary re-entry window for residents whose visas have expired while they are outside the country. This measure, effective until March 31, 2026, allows eligible residents to return without facing penalties.

The initiative specifically targets foreign residents whose UAE residency visas expired on or before February 28, 2026. Upon arrival, these individuals must complete the necessary residency renewal procedures.

The Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICP) emphasized that this policy aims to simplify the return process and prevent unnecessary administrative hurdles for residents. The UAE government introduced this decision to support residents unable to return due to recent travel disruptions affecting parts of the Middle East.

Airlines may require evidence of previous UAE residency to confirm eligibility for this temporary arrangement. Individuals who fail to return within the specified period will be subject to the country's normal immigration rules.
