UBEC Launches Digital Champions for Education Reform

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) inaugurated 100 digital champions in Abuja as part of its efforts to accelerate the digital transformation agenda in Nigeria's basic education sector. Aisha Garba, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, described this initiative as a significant step towards building a modern, data-driven educational future capable of delivering quality services efficiently.

The digital champions, selected from UBEC's departmental units and zonal state offices, will act as change agents to promote the adoption of digital tools and innovative work processes. Garba emphasized that the digital transformation goes beyond merely deploying software; it requires a fundamental change in mindset and the role of technology in education.

UBEC has already begun deploying digital platforms, including the Microsoft 365 ecosystem and a data-driven management system, to improve operational efficiency. Engr.
