UBEC Mobilizes N100bn for Classroom Construction in Nigeria

The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has mobilized over N100 billion in previously unaccessed grants to enhance basic education across Nigeria. Aisha Garba, the Executive Secretary of UBEC, announced this at a media luncheon in Abuja.
The funds will be used to construct 4,600 new classrooms, renovate 6,100 existing classrooms, and provide 2,780 toilets and 678 boreholes. Additionally, UBEC will supply 334,000 pieces of school furniture nationwide.
The initiative aligns with the 2025-2031 strategic blueprint aimed at improving educational outcomes and empowering teachers. Garba emphasized the importance of establishing 2,300 early childhood care development education centers and expanding digital literacy programs.
UBEC also aims to integrate Qur'anic and Tsangaya education into the mainstream education system, focusing on girl-child education and inclusive programs. The commission is committed to transparency and data-driven decision-making, calling for media partnerships to strengthen public confidence in educational initiatives.
