British Army Closes Commonwealth Applications, Only Musicians Eligible

The British Army has announced that its application window for Commonwealth residents is currently closed, with the exception of musician applicants who are still permitted to apply. This decision follows an unprecedented volume of applications received during the 2024 recruitment window, leading to a backlog that the Army is still processing.

Existing applicants have been advised against contacting the Army for updates and should instead monitor their application portal for any communications regarding next steps. Additionally, the Army has warned that applications submitted in 2024 without a Recruit Bounty Scheme sponsor will be rejected outright.

Despite the closure, the British Army reaffirmed its commitment to Commonwealth soldiers, stating they are an important part of the Army's fabric. No specific date has been provided for when the application window will reopen for general Commonwealth applicants, meaning that Nigerians and other African nationals will have to wait for the next recruitment window for their opportunity to apply.
