UK Donates DNA Forensic Equipment to Nigeria Police

The UK Government, through the Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) SPRING Programme, donated DNA forensic equipment to the Nigeria Police Force, presented to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja. The donation was made by a UK delegation led by Professor Ukoha Ukwo and received by AIG Ihebom Chukwuma, the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the FCID.

AIG Chukwuma expressed gratitude for the support, stating that the equipment would significantly enhance the police's forensic capabilities, allowing for more scientific and accurate criminal investigations. The equipment is expected to aid in identifying suspects and victims, establishing links between individuals and crime scenes, and providing scientifically based evidence for criminal justice proceedings.

DCP Agbo Benedict, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the Forensic Section, also commended the UK Government for its ongoing support in strengthening policing and the criminal justice system in Nigeria, highlighting previous initiatives and the importance of international partnerships.
