UK Lists 8 Education Programmes for Child Benefit Eligibility

The UK government has officially identified eight educational programmes that qualify parents and guardians to maintain Child Benefit for children who have surpassed the compulsory school age. Child Benefit remains available for children engaged in full-time, non-advanced education, defined as involving over 12 hours of supervised study or course-related work experience weekly.

The eight qualifying programmes include: A levels or similar qualifications (including the International Baccalaureate), T levels, GCSEs, Scottish Highers, NVQs and most vocational qualifications up to level 3, home education, study programmes in England, and pre-apprenticeships. These qualifications are categorized as non-advanced, meaning they do not reach higher education levels such as university degrees.

Parents whose children move directly from secondary school to one of these programmes can continue receiving Child Benefit without interruption, provided the weekly study hours requirement is satisfied. Home education is included, allowing children educated outside formal settings to count towards a parent's Child Benefit claim under the same conditions.
