University of Abuja Appoints New Registrar and Librarian

The University of Abuja appointed Malam Alkasim Musa Umar as the substantive registrar and Dr. Rose Lade Mommoh as the substantive university librarian, effective July 9, 2026.

This decision was ratified during the university's 101st Governing Council meeting held on July 9-10, 2026. Malam Umar, who has a wealth of experience in university administration, previously served as the deputy registrar and has spent 17 years in various strategic units at the university.

He holds a master's degree in business administration and has been involved in several committees, including the undergraduate admissions committee and the senate committee. Dr.

Mommoh brings 25 years of experience in university librarianship, having joined the University of Abuja as a graduate librarian in 1999 and rising to the position of deputy university librarian in 2020. She holds a bachelor's and master's degree in library science and a doctorate in information science.

Both appointees are expected to strengthen the university's commitment to excellence in teaching, learning, research, and community service.
