UniAbuja Governing Council Promotes 34 Academic Staff

The governing council of the University of Abuja has approved the promotion of 34 academic staff to professorial ranks. This includes 17 individuals elevated to the rank of professor and another 17 to the rank of associate professor.

The decision was made during the council's 101st regular meeting, which took place on July 10-11, 2026. The promotions were based on favorable external assessment reports and reflect the dedication and scholarly contributions of the promoted staff across various disciplines, including community medicine, veterinary medicine, engineering, religious studies, guidance and counseling, accountancy, library and information science, business administration, physics, parasitology, entomology, physiology, crop science, and education.

Vice Chancellor Professor Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi congratulated the newly promoted academics, emphasizing their commitment to scholarship and academic excellence. The promotions will take effect in October 2025.
