UNICEF Supports Borno Health Facilities with Donations

UNICEF donated infection prevention materials to 200 health facilities across 27 local government areas in Borno State. Franci Butichi, the Chief of Maiduguri Field Office for UNICEF, announced the donation during a meeting with officials from the Borno State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency and the State Health Care Services in Maiduguri.

The materials, which include buckets, sprayers, and detergents, are intended to enhance the quality and safety of healthcare services for women and children. Butichi emphasized that the donation aligns with national standards and UNICEF's global guidance.

The initiative aims to address identified gaps in facilities requiring urgent action to meet minimum water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) and infection prevention and control (IPC) standards. Muhammad Aliyu, from the Borno State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, commended UNICEF for the timely assistance, which is crucial for protecting vulnerable women and children in the state.
