UNIDO, EPRON, E-Terra Collaborate on E-Waste Management

The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), E-waste Producers Responsibility Organisation Nigeria (EPRON), and E-Terra Technologies Limited have initiated discussions on collaboration to tackle the e-waste challenge linked to Nigeria's growing renewable energy sector. This engagement followed a facility tour of E-Terra's Materials Recovery and Recycling Facility (MRRF) in Abule-Ado, Lagos, by representatives from UNIDO and EPRON.

A subsequent meeting focused on the responsible management of solar panels, inverters, batteries, and other renewable energy equipment at the end of their life cycle. Satoko Takenoshita, Technical Advisor at UNIDO, emphasized the necessity of developing systems for recovering and recycling end-of-life solar equipment to ensure a sustainable energy future.

Mrs. Ibukun Faluyi, Executive Director of EPRON, highlighted the importance of collaboration in preparing for waste streams from increased renewable energy adoption. Mr. Patrick Inoh, Technical Director at E-Terra, welcomed the initiative, noting the significance of strategic partnerships in addressing Africa's e-waste challenges.
