Young Creators Showcase Lagos-Inspired Games at UNILAG

At the University of Lagos, young creators presented their first playable Roblox projects during a graduation showcase for the “Build Africa on Roblox” programme. This initiative, funded by the UK-Nigeria Tech Hub under the Digital Access Programme of the UK Government’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, aims to empower young Africans in the gaming industry.

Two teams unveiled games, including “Afro Driver,” which depicts Lagos's chaotic transport system, and “Spirit Runner,” a culturally inspired adventure. Gideon Uwem, Program Lead and Game Director at Gamr Lab, emphasized the potential of gaming to shape culture and address social issues, including a forthcoming game tackling drug and substance abuse.

Ifeoluwa Ogunmuyiwa, a graduate of Covenant University, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to create and launch “Afro Driver.” Mobola Akingbala from the Lagos State Employment Trust Fund praised the initiative and expressed interest in supporting future cohorts of the program.
