UNILAG Launches D.K. Olukoya Organ Recital Hall

The University of Lagos unveiled the D.K. Olukoya Organ Recital Hall, which features a newly installed concert organ, during an event attended by Dr.

Daniel Olukoya and Vice Chancellor Prof. Elijah Ayolabi.

The project is seen as a significant boost for music education in Nigeria, addressing the lack of organ facilities within the university's music department. Prof.

Albert Oikelom stated that the hall will serve as a center for learning, creative performance, and research, allowing students to maximize their potential. Previously, students had to seek external venues for organ practice due to the absence of facilities, which limited their exposure and professional development.

The organ was donated by Dr. Olukoya, and the hall underwent renovations to transform it from a poor condition to a functional space.

Students expressed excitement about the new opportunities for rehearsals and examinations in a conducive environment, which will facilitate their career development in music.
