UNIZIK Launches Probe into Lecturer's Misconduct Allegation

The Management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, located in Awka, Anambra State, has ordered a probe into allegations of sexual misconduct against an unidentified lecturer in the Department of Chinese Studies, Faculty of Arts. This decision follows a viral video that surfaced online on Saturday, August 15, 2026, depicting students physically assaulting the lecturer after he was allegedly caught molesting a female student.

The university's Director of Information and Public Relations, Aloysius Attah, stated that the management is deeply saddened by the incident and condemned the use of violence or self-help. The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Anyaehie, reaffirmed the university's zero-tolerance policy towards sexual misconduct and emphasized that allegations must be handled through proper institutional procedures.

An immediate, comprehensive, and impartial investigation has been directed to establish the facts surrounding the incident, with the university committed to ensuring the dignity and safety of its staff and students.
