Unizik Suspends Professor for Exam Misconduct

The Vice Chancellor of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie, approved a three-month suspension with half salary for Prof. Ifeanyi Sunny Odinye, a lecturer in the Department of Chinese Studies, due to examination misconduct. This decision was based on recommendations from a six-member Special Investigative Panel, which submitted a preliminary report on the matter.

The report indicated that Prof. Odinye violated Section 5.8.3 of the General and Academic Regulations (GAR) by not recording and submitting a case of examination misconduct involving student Chikamso Favour Okechukwu. Additionally, he returned a confiscated phone to the student, contravening Section 5.8.1(iv) of the GAR.

The university has referred the student to the examination misconduct committee, which has been given an extension of two weeks to address additional issues, including allegations of sexual harassment and potential kidnapping. The committee is expected to conclude its findings and make recommendations to the Vice Chancellor.
