Olubadan Warns Women About Oloolu Masquerade Festival

Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, issued a warning to residents and visitors of Ibadan, particularly women, regarding the Oloolu masquerade, which is the most popular in the city. This warning was communicated through a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Chief Ayoade Olugbemiga.

The annual Egungun Oloolu festival is set to take place from Monday, July 27, 2026, to Thursday, July 30, 2026. During this period, the Oloolu masquerade will make appearances daily from 4 PM until dawn.

The palace's statement emphasized that it is considered taboo for women to see or cross paths with the Oloolu masquerade, highlighting cultural beliefs associated with the event.
