Oyebanji Wins Ekiti Governorship Election with 84.95%

Biodun Oyebanji of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared the winner of the Ekiti State governorship election held recently, achieving a remarkable 84.95% of the total votes cast. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that Oyebanji received a total of 319,224 votes out of 375,777 valid votes.

His closest rival, Wole Oluyed of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), managed to secure only 40,543 votes, while Dare Bejid of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) received 12,872 votes. This election saw an increase in valid votes compared to the previous election in 2022, with 23,912 additional valid votes recorded.

Oyebanji's victory marks a significant achievement as he won all 16 local government areas in Ekiti State. The election was characterized by a strong public acceptance of Oyebanji, who previously won the 2022 election against Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party (SDP).
