Aremu Appointed Nigeria Country Director for U.S.-Africa Trade

The U.S.-Africa Trade Commission appointed Dr. Fakunle John Aremu as its Country Director for Nigeria, as per an appointment letter dated July 10, 2026. Aremu, an international trade, investment, and economic development executive with over 15 years of experience across Africa, will also serve on the Executive Committee.

His responsibilities include promoting bilateral trade, investment, tourism, innovation, and economic cooperation between Nigeria and the United States. Aremu will engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, diplomatic missions, investors, businesses, universities, chambers of commerce, and development partners.

His duties encompass identifying investment opportunities, facilitating business transactions, leading membership recruitment, mobilizing sponsorships, organizing trade missions, and submitting periodic reports on partnerships and fundraising activities. As Nigeria Country Director, Aremu aims to strengthen U.S.-Nigeria trade and investment relationships, leveraging his experience with governments and private-sector stakeholders.
