US-based Nigerian Doctor Survives Mob Attack in Oyo

On Monday, around 2:30 PM, a US-based Nigerian doctor named Afolabi was attacked by a mob in the 2nd Powerline area of Ologuneru, Ibadan, Oyo State, due to false kidnapping allegations. The incident occurred when Afolabi attempted to gain access to a polytechnic gate, where security personnel noticed two girls, Deborah (15) and Rebecca (12), in a compromising situation inside his Lexus RX 330 SUV.

This raised suspicions, leading to a mob forming and setting the vehicle ablaze. The Oyo State Police Command, led by Olayinka Ayanlad, received a distress call and dispatched a patrol team to the scene.

Upon arrival, they found the SUV already on fire and rescued the girls, who were taken into protective custody alongside Afolabi. Preliminary investigations revealed that Afolabi was not involved in any kidnapping, and the situation escalated due to a misunderstanding.

Ayanlad condemned the mob action and urged residents to report suspicious activities to the police instead of taking the law into their own hands.
