US Condemns Attack on Rev. Dachomo's Family in Plateau

The United States has condemned the killing of members of Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo’s family in Plateau State, Nigeria, describing the attack as horrific.

The US Department of State’s Bureau of African Affairs issued a statement on X, calling for Nigerian authorities to identify and hold accountable the perpetrators. The statement followed an attack on July 12 in Kum community, Riyom Local Government Area, where nine relatives of Rev.

Dachomo, including a two-month-old baby, were killed. The attackers, believed to be armed Fulani militias, specifically asked for Rev.

Dachomo by name before opening fire. Rev.

Dachomo, who is the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, noted that his family had been targeted due to his outspoken criticism of violence in the region. He mentioned previous attacks that resulted in the deaths of his grandmother and uncle, and he received a death threat shortly after burying his relatives.
