Nine Family Members Killed in Plateau State Attack

On Saturday night, nine members of a family were killed in an attack by gunmen at Wereng Camp in Kum Village, located in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State. Mr.

Pam Yohanna sustained life-threatening injuries and is currently receiving treatment. The attack began around 11 PM, and the Berom Youth Moulder Association, represented by Rwang Tengwong, confirmed the incident, lamenting the frequency of such attacks and the resulting civilian casualties.

The victims included Mr. Celina Jame (38), Mr.

Yohanna Jame (21), Mr. Janet Jame (18), Babi Jennif Yohanna (3 months), Miss Sele Jame (18), Miss Melodi Jame (16), Reto Jame (10), Endur Jame (8), and Peac Jame (3).

The entire family was wiped out, and the community is calling on the federal government to intensify efforts to protect vulnerable communities. In a separate incident in Benue State, at least 18 people were killed, including a pregnant woman, in attacks on Otukpo Local Government Area.

The violence has raised concerns about security and the need for government intervention.
