Nine Family Members Killed in Plateau State Attack

On Saturday night, a violent attack in Wereng Camp, Kum Village, located in the Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State, resulted in the deaths of nine family members. The assault began around 11:00 PM and continued into the early hours of Sunday, leaving Pam Yohanna, a 40-year-old survivor, with life-threatening injuries.

The victims included Celina Jame (38), Yohanna Jame (21), Janet Yohanna (18), Jennif Yohanna (3 months), Sele Jame (18), Melodi Jame (16), Reto Jame (10), Endur Jame (8), and Peac Jame (3). The Berom Youth Moulder Association (BYM) condemned the attack, which they believe was carried out by terrorists hiding in the area.

They called for the federal government to intensify security operations to dismantle criminal hideouts and provide humanitarian support to affected families. The ongoing violence has raised concerns about the safety of predominantly Christian farming communities in the region.
