US Firm Accuses Tinubu of Rigging 2027 Election

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been accused by the United States-based political advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, of plotting to rig Nigeria’s 2027 presidential election. The firm alleged that the Tinubu administration is utilizing state institutions, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the judiciary, and law enforcement agencies, to undermine opposition parties.

It specifically claimed that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is being weaponized against political opponents, including a directive for the EFCC to arrest Atiku Abubakar, a major opposition candidate from the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Von Batten-Montague-York, which has a $1.2 million contract with Atiku for strategic advisory services, stated that it has communicated these concerns to the US government, emphasizing the importance of a free and fair election in Nigeria.

The firm warned that any attempts to manipulate the electoral process could attract international scrutiny.
