US Condemns Killing of Plateau Cleric's Family Members

The United States has condemned the killing of nine members of the family of Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, a cleric based in Plateau State, describing the attack as a disturbing act of violence.

This incident took place on July 12 when armed men attacked the Kum community in Riyom Local Government Area, specifically asking for Rev. Dachomo before opening fire on his family, which included a two-month-old baby among the victims.

The US State Department’s Bureau of African Affairs expressed concern over the ongoing violence in Plateau State and called for Nigerian security agencies to identify and prosecute the perpetrators. Rev.

Dachomo, who serves as the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, noted that his family had been targeted multiple times in the past due to his outspoken stance on the security crisis in the region. The US government reaffirmed its commitment to working with Nigeria to combat terrorism and ensure that all Nigerians can live and worship freely.
