US Embassy in Abuja Continues Visa Processing for Diplomats

The US Embassy in Abuja has announced that it will continue processing certain visa categories for Nigerians despite a global pause in routine visa services. The US Department of State's recent changes, effective August 1, 2026, redirect applicants from Abuja to designated regional visa hubs for routine processing.

However, the embassy will still issue A, G, and C visas. A visas are for diplomats and foreign government officials on official duties, G visas are for representatives of recognized international organizations, and C visas are for certain foreign government officials transiting through the US.

The embassy has advised Nigerians who qualify for these categories to consult their relevant authorities. This clarification aims to reduce uncertainty among applicants and emphasizes that while routine services are reorganized, the embassy remains operational for diplomatic visa processing.
