Presidency to Prosecute VDM for Fake Tinubu Audio

The Nigerian Presidency announced intentions to prosecute Martin Vincent Ots, popularly known as VDM, for allegedly disseminating a fake audio recording of President Bola Tinubu. The audio, which purportedly captured Tinubu's voice discussing insecurity in Nigeria and claiming that Nigerians did not vote in the 2023 elections, was shared on social media.

Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu's media aide, responded by stating that VDM must face the full weight of the law for this egregious abuse of social media platforms. A report from Daily Post indicated that there was no actual audio or video of the alleged content shared by VDM.

The Presidency's stance reflects a broader concern regarding the spread of misinformation and its potential impact on public perception and security.
