Adeleke Celebrates Emotional Re-election Win with Davido

On Sunday, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke expressed his emotions during a congratulatory phone call from his nephew, Afrobeats star David Adeleke, known as Davido, following his re-election victory. In a video that circulated online, Adeleke was heard saying, “Come and give me a hug.” Davido had previously celebrated his uncle’s win in the Osun State governorship election held on Saturday, posting on X, “We did it Unc.” In a video accompanying his post, Davido was seen lying on the floor while one of his aides congratulated him.

Throughout the campaign, Davido actively supported Adeleke, expressing confidence in his uncle's chances for a second term. The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Adeleke the winner on Sunday after he garnered 511,067 votes, defeating his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, who received 444,815 votes.

Adeleke won in 19 of the 30 local government areas in Osun State, securing a fresh mandate for another four years.
