Amaechi Tells Sowore to Be Silent at NBA Conference

During the 66th Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) held in Port Harcourt, Rivers, a political session titled “Beyond Limits” featured a heated exchange between Omoyele Sowore, the presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), and Rotimi Amaechi, the vice-presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The session aimed to discuss Nigeria's political future ahead of the 2027 general elections, focusing on the records of former public office holders and government policies.

Amaechi, representing former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, questioned Sowore's experience in governance, stating, “Please, I need Rivers lawyers to take Sowore around. What is your experience?” He further instructed Sowore to remain silent while politicians with governing experience spoke, saying, “When politicians are talking, Sowore, close your mouth.” The session included other presidential candidates such as Peter Obi of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Adewole Adebayo of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Donald Duke of the People’s Redemption Party (PRP).
