Oyo State Acquires Two Surveillance Aircraft for Security

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde explained the rationale behind the state's acquisition of two surveillance aircraft, which were officially delivered on Tuesday at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan. The governor stated that the aircraft were procured to strengthen security operations across Oyo State by improving aerial surveillance and complementing ground security personnel.

He clarified that the decision to purchase the aircraft was made prior to the recent abduction incident at Ahoro Community Grammar School in Oriire Local Government Area, emphasizing that this incident did not influence the decision. Makinde noted that the size of Oyo State necessitated investment in aerial surveillance to enable security agencies to cover more areas efficiently.

He addressed concerns regarding the delay in the aircraft's arrival and expressed confidence in the government's commitment to protecting lives and property. The aircraft were flown into Ibadan by Nigerian Air Force pilots, and the state has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigerian Air Force for joint operations.
