Oyo State Receives Surveillance Aircraft for Security Boost

On Tuesday, Oyo State received two surveillance aircraft at the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Airport in Ibadan. Governor Makinde announced that the acquisition is intended to complement security personnel on the ground and enhance the state's capacity to respond to security threats.

He emphasized the significance of this investment in light of recent security challenges, including abduction incidents, although he noted that the decision to procure the aircraft was made prior to these developments. Governor Makinde expressed satisfaction with the delivery of the aircraft and reaffirmed his administration's commitment to making decisions that serve the best interests of residents.

The aircraft will become operational immediately under a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed with the Nigerian Air Force. The state government indicated that the aircraft will assist in aerial reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, and coordinated security operations as part of broader efforts to address insecurity and protect lives and property.
