Shettima Lauds NELFUND for Supporting Underprivileged Students

On Wednesday, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima commended the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), established by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration, for its significant impact on providing financial relief to the children of the poor. He described NELFUND as a crucial social equalizer that removes financial barriers to higher education.

The initiative covers tuition fees and provides monthly allowances to students from less-privileged backgrounds, ensuring that poverty does not hinder educational access. During a meeting in Abuja with the University of Abuja's management team, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi, Shettima reflected on his own experiences as a student and emphasized the importance of NELFUND.

He also noted Nigeria's progress towards sustainable economic development, citing improvements in sovereign credit ratings and macroeconomic reforms. Prof. Fawehinmi praised Shettima's leadership and the support provided to the university, expressing a desire for continued partnership with the government.
