Cameroon to Face Malawi in WAFCON 2026 Final Showdown

In the semi-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations held in Rabat, Cameroon triumphed over hosts Morocco 3-1 in a penalty shootout after a goalless match that lasted 120 minutes. Morocco, aiming for a third consecutive final, had a chance to win in extra time but Fatima Tagnaout missed a penalty in the 118th minute.

The penalty shootout saw Cameroon display composure, with Marie Ngah and Myriam Nyadjou successfully converting their kicks, while Morocco's Kenza Chapelle and Meryem Atiq missed theirs. This victory sends Cameroon to their fourth WAFCON final.

Meanwhile, Malawi secured their place in the final by defeating Algeria 3-1, with Tabitha Chawinga scoring twice and her sister Temwa Chawinga also contributing. This final will mark Malawi's first appearance in a WAFCON final, ensuring that a new champion will emerge, as neither team has previously won the tournament.
