Super Falcons Eliminated by Cameroon in WAFCON 2026

The Super Falcons of Nigeria were eliminated from the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday evening, losing 1-0 to the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in the quarter-finals. The match saw Cameroon take the lead in the 19th minute with a superb free-kick from Myriam Maéva Nyadjou Wamen, which successfully beat the Nigerian defense and goalkeeper.

Despite efforts from Justine Madugu’s side to find an equalizer, Nigeria was unable to convert their chances, and Cameroon maintained their lead until the final whistle. This defeat marks the end of Nigeria's hopes to defend the continental title they won against Morocco in the previous edition.

Following this elimination, the Super Falcons will now aim to finish their campaign positively, with a crucial match against South Africa scheduled for Thursday in Casablanca, where a place in the Inter-Confederation playoff tournament is at stake.
