Cameroon Wins First WAFCON Title, Babajide Congratulates

Rinsola Babajide, a player for the Super Falcons, congratulated the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon for winning their first Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title. Cameroon achieved a 3-0 victory over Malawi in the final held in Rabat.

The match saw Marie Ngah Manga score the opening goal with a close-range header in the 20th minute, followed by Naomi Eto's stunning volley that made it 2-0 in the 30th minute. In the third minute of first-half added time, Cameroon secured their third goal when Eto rounded Malawi goalkeeper Mercy Sikelo and assisted Ngah Manga, who scored her fifth goal of the tournament.

Babajide, who participated in some matches for the Super Falcons, acknowledged the win on her X handle. Notably, this tournament marked the first time the Super Falcons failed to defend their WAFCON title and did not qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Alongside Cameroon, Malawi, Morocco, and Algeria have secured automatic qualification for the upcoming women’s World Cup.
