Over 200,000 Cattle Lost to Banditry in Kaduna

The Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Kaduna State chapter, announced that over 200,000 cattle were lost to banditry, communal clashes, and cattle rustling within an eight-month period in 2026. During a news conference in Kaduna, the state director of media, Ibrahim Bayero-Zango, presented this information on behalf of the state chairman, Alhaji Abdulhamid Albarka.

Albarka stated that the violence resulted in the deaths of 50 members, attributing these fatalities to various forms of violence, including communal clashes and attacks by farmers, as well as banditry during cattle-rustling operations. He emphasized the severe suffering of local families, many of whom have been plunged into poverty due to these incidents.

The period under review spans from January to August 2026, during which the association reported significant losses and ongoing violence affecting its members.
