Gunmen Kill 14 Cattle, Rustle 29 in Plateau Attack

On Sunday, the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), led by State Chairman Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, confirmed an attack in Plateau State where gunmen killed 14 cattle and rustled 29. The herding community described the assault as unprovoked, occurring while herders tended to their cattle.

This incident is part of a troubling pattern of violence affecting pastoral communities in the region, with previous attacks reported on June 30, 2026, and June 16, 2026, resulting in the deaths of several Fulani herders. Babayo expressed deep concern over the economic impact of livestock destruction and called for equal protection under the law for all Nigerians.

The community urged members to remain calm and law-abiding while security agencies promised to investigate the incident. The spokesperson for the Berom Youth Moulders Association, Rwang Tengwong, stated he would confirm the incident but had not provided further details at the time of reporting.
