Mayorkun's Mother Recalls First Meeting with Davido

In a recent interview, Mayorkun's mother recounted her first encounter with Davido, revealing that both she and her son initially thought a direct message from Davido was a scam. The message was related to Mayorkun's cover of a song that caught Davido's attention, ultimately leading to Mayorkun signing with DMW in 2016.

Initially suspicious of someone impersonating the award-winning singer, Mayorkun's mother later received a call from Davido, who praised her son's cover. This prompted a meeting where Davido reportedly gifted Mayorkun money, marking the beginning of their professional relationship.

The bond between the two artists strengthened as Mayorkun recorded "Eleko," and Davido eventually invited him to join his camp. Mayorkun has since achieved significant milestones in his career, including winning several awards and releasing music under Sony Music West Africa, with a third album expected in 2025.
