Atiku Abubakar Defends ADC Primaries Amid Court Ruling

Atiku Abubakar, the former Vice President and presidential candidate for the African Democratic Congress (ADC), addressed supporters on Monday, asserting that the party's primaries are valid despite a recent court ruling that questioned the leadership structure of the ADC. He dismissed claims that the court's judgment invalidated the primaries, emphasizing that the ruling should not discourage party members.

Atiku's comments followed a split decision from the Abuja Court of Appeal, which upheld a previous ruling by the Federal High Court that restrained the Independent National Electoral Commission from recognizing the ADC's state congress. He stated that the ADC's legal team has been instructed to approach the Supreme Court to challenge the appellate court's decision.

Atiku urged party members to remain focused on the upcoming 2027 general elections and not to be swayed by political propaganda aimed at undermining the ADC's position.
