Oyo Governor Makinde Assures Support for Rescued Victims

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde declared that the state government has taken over the welfare of the recently rescued teachers and pupils from Oriire Local Government Area. He made this announcement during a formal handover of the victims at the Oyo State Government House in Ibadan, following their release after 56 days in captivity.

Makinde emphasized the government's responsibility to ensure that the educational careers of the victims are not disrupted and that they receive necessary medical and psychological support. He expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his intervention and the collaboration of Nigerian security agencies in the rescue operation.

The governor also mentioned that the Baptist school involved is not a government-owned institution but assured that the state government would engage with its management to determine the best way forward. Rachael Alamu, one of the victims, recounted the harrowing experience of the abduction, including the loss of a mathematics teacher, Michael Oyedokun, during the ordeal.
