Lagos Government Defends City After Buchi's Criticism

The Lagos State Government, represented by Gboyega Akosile, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, condemned Solomon Buchi for his remarks advising foreigners, particularly Caucasians and Chinese tourists, to avoid Lagos State. Buchi characterized Lagos as a city defined by begging, clubbing, and a superficial lifestyle, suggesting that tourists should explore other Nigerian cities for a more authentic cultural experience.

In response, Akosile accused Buchi of bitterness and argued that he could have promoted other regions of Nigeria without disparaging Lagos. He defended the city's nightlife and activities, stating they contribute to its attractiveness to visitors.

Akosile expressed that negative commentary would not undermine Lagos' status as a city of opportunities, emphasizing that the state would continue to grow despite such rhetoric. He also encouraged visitors to look forward to vibrant activities in Lagos during the festive season in December.
