Yushau Shuaib's Memoir Exposes NIPR Betrayal

Yushau A. Shuaib, a veteran public relations practitioner and Chief Executive Officer of Image Merchants Promotion Limited, released a memoir detailing his experiences with the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

The memoir, spanning 205 pages, explores themes of institutional discipline, professional loyalty, and the emotional toll of organizational disputes. A significant chapter, “The NIPR Betrayal,” discusses Shuaib's feelings of abandonment by the NIPR, led by Dr Ike Neliaku, during a challenging period following his withdrawal from a Senior Executive Course at NIPSS.

Shuaib personally funded his participation at NIPSS with ₦18.5 million, expecting support from NIPR, but instead faced an invitation to appear before an NIPR Investigating Panel. His professional journey includes being the inaugural recipient of the NIPR President’s Prize in 1992 and being named Public Relations Person of the Year in 1995 for the Kano/Jigawa Chapter.
